Lee Na-young Makes Three-Year Drama Comeback with ‘Honor: Their Court,’ Expressing Desire for New Challenge

ENA Monday-Tuesday Drama ‘Honor: Their Court’

According to a report by Xportsnews, actress Lee Na-young is making her return to drama after approximately three years. She explained her motivation for choosing this project, stating, “The characters and genres I have played before were completely different.” Her statement suggests an exciting transformation in her acting.

The ENA Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Honor: Their Court’ (hereinafter ‘Honor’) is a mystery thriller about three female lawyers who confront a scandalous past head-on. Lee Na-young described her initial reaction to the script, saying, “I read it in one go, as if reading a novel, and found myself eager for the next episode.”

Her primary reason for selecting the project was, “I wanted to be part of its tense narrative.” She also found intrigue in “the process of Yoon Ra-young facing and enduring her wounds while pursuing the truth.” The character and genre were distinctly different from her previous roles, sparking her desire to take on the challenge.

Lee Na-young plays Yoon Ra-young, a celebrity lawyer with hundreds of thousands of social media followers. She serves as a public messenger for L&J (Listen & Join), a law firm specializing in victims of women’s crimes, which she founded with her law school friends.

However, Lee Na-young emphasized, “She doesn’t stop at her glamorous appearance.” Yoon Ra-young’s commitment to restoring the victims’ honor drives her to take risks and never give up. Lee Na-young described Yoon Ra-young as “a celebrity lawyer in armor.” She meticulously refined her emotional lines to capture the complexity hidden beneath the surface.

The ‘armor’ she refers to conceals a mystery related to Yoon Ra-young’s secret past. Lee Na-young explained, “Yoon Ra-young finds it difficult to live with her past, but it has led her to believe, ‘You need power to represent the victims.’ So, she wears ‘armor’ to keep her weaknesses hidden.”

ENA 'Honor' still

Her character, driven by more than just a sense of justice, promises to deliver an electrifying catharsis in the courtroom. The process of pursuing the enormous truth at the heart of a scandal from the past arouses curiosity.

These descriptions alone highlight that Yoon Ra-young represents a significant ‘challenge,’ as Lee Na-young previously stated. “I had to mix multiple emotions in every scene,” she admitted. “There wasn’t a single easy scene.”

At times, she even filmed scenes after shedding tears, highlighting her dedication to the character.

Perhaps this is why she defined ‘Honor’ as “a work that expanded her horizon as an actor.” Her expanded challenge through new characters and genres is expected to make an impact alongside her portrayal of Yoon Ra-young. Viewers eagerly await Lee Na-young’s performance in ‘Honor.’

Meanwhile, ‘Honor: Their Court’ is based on a Swedish drama of the same name and will premiere on February 2 at 10 p.m. on ENA and will also be available on KT Genie TV.
