Netflix’s original variety show ‘Culinary Class Wars 2’ continues to maintain its popularity despite a spoiler controversy.
Premiering on the 16th of last month, the show secured the number one spot for non-English TV shows and sixth overall for two consecutive weeks.
Unlike last season, ‘White spoon’ chefs have garnered more interest than ‘Black spoon’ chefs. This is particularly true for chefs such as Son Jong-won, Jung Ho-young, Sam Kim, and Choi Kang-rok, who previously appeared on JTBC’s ‘Please Take Care of My Refrigerator 2’ before ‘Culinary Class Wars 2.’
As the competition progresses, the duration of these chefs’ survival has become a central focus. ‘Napoli Mafia’ Kwon Sung-joon, the winner of ‘Culinary Class Wars 1,’ runner-up Edward Lee, ‘Crazy Chef’ Yoon Nam-no, and Jung Ji-sun have also returned, bringing their existing relationships into the spotlight.
However, an issue arose last week when a ‘Black spoon’ chef, known as the “Cooking Monster,” appeared to advance to the finals. This was inferred after his real name appeared on his name tag during an interview scene.
A similar incident occurred in Season 1 when ‘Napoli Mafia’ Kwon Sung-joon’s real name appeared in a finals interview, leading to disappointment among netizens.
Despite this, interest in the show remains high. ‘White spoon’ chef Lim Sung-geun, a winner of ‘Korean Cuisine Contest 3,’ is gaining attention for his unique communication style on his YouTube channel ‘LimzzangTV,’ where he has surpassed 780,000 subscribers.
Jung Ho-young, who was known for his dancing skills on ‘Please Take Care of My Refrigerator,’ has earned a new nickname, “Comedian Chef,” by showcasing his culinary skills on ‘Culinary Class Wars 2.’
With only three episodes remaining, to be released over two weeks, concerns exist that the tension may lessen. However, it remains to be seen whether the show can maintain viewer interest despite the spoiler controversy.
