Actors Lee Chae-min and Lee Shin-young won the 2024 MBC Best Newcomer Award.
The 2024 MBC Drama Awards took place on the 30th at the MBC Media Center public hall in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. MCs Kim Sung-joo and Lee Sun-bin hosted the event.
The MBC Drama Awards announced the nominees and winners for the Best Newcomer in the male category. Nominees included Shin Jun-hang from “Undercover High School,” Lee Shin-young from “Moon River,” Lee Chae-min from “Crushology 101,” and Jo Jun-young from “Crushology 101.” Lee Chae-min and Lee Shin-young received the Best Newcomer honor.
Lee Chae-min, who enjoyed an active year, expressed her gratitude, stating, “Actually, I had the opportunity to share my thoughts at a similar event yesterday. I was so nervous that I barely remember it. I came here today resolved not to be nervous,” she said with a trembling voice.
She thanked the director, writer, and on-site staff, adding, “I regretted only extending my thanks yesterday and not being able to wish them a Happy New Year.”
She continued, “It is an honor to receive an award and deliver my speech in front of the senior actors I admired even before my debut. I will continue to demonstrate my dedication in every project. To all the viewers and fans, I love you, and I hope we can be together forever.”
Lee Shin-young stated, “This is my first MBC project and my first time attending an awards ceremony. I wondered if I would have time to reflect on my way home after this ceremony,” adding, “I challenged a historical drama again, and after my first one, my fears and anxieties intensified. I worried if I could perform well and act confidently in this project. Before starting, I had many discussions and readings with the director and fellow actors. Despite my initial concerns, I believe I adapted well to the role. I thank the team and attribute this honor to the director.”
