‘Today I’m Human’: Kim Hye-yoon and Lomon Lead New K-Fantasy Rom-Com

SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Today I'm Human'

‘Today I’m Human’ is finally premiering.

Debuting today (the 16th), SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama ‘Today I’m Human’ is a fantasy romance about an MZ gumiho who doesn’t want to become human and a self-loving human in a chaotic yet redemptive story of self-discovery.

The drama offers a playful and imaginative story that navigates between reality and fantasy, introducing viewers to a new gumiho universe unlike anything seen before. As viewers anticipate the long-awaited premiere, here are some key points to watch.

#. SBS’s Proven Track Record in K-Fantasy Romantic Comedies

Kicking off the 2026 SBS Friday-Saturday drama lineup, ‘Today I’m Human’ follows global hits like ‘Gwigung’ and ‘My Demon,’ raising expectations for another memorable K-fantasy romance.

Prior SBS hits like ‘Gwigung,’ a fantasy romance about a shaman tied to a cursed scroll’s fate, and ‘My Demon,’ which explored a contract marriage between an heiress and a powerless demon, have captivated audiences with their unique plots featuring encounters between humans and mystical beings. ‘Today I’m Human’ is set to continue this trend with its own exciting premise.

‘Today I’m Human’ promises a unique and thrilling romance between ‘MZ Gumiho’ Eun-ho (played by Kim Hye-yoon) and ‘World-Class Soccer Star’ Kang Si-yeol (played by Lomon). Writers Park Chan-young and Jo A-young said, “Watch how the young Kang Si-yeol and the gumiho Eun-ho become entangled in a ‘love-hate’ relationship in the first episode.” They hope viewers will enjoy the playful, affectionate, and sometimes contentious interactions between Eun-ho and Kang Si-yeol.

#. Blending Familiarity with Innovation: Introducing the ‘MZ Gumiho’

Director Kim Jeong-kwon cites the “gumiho who doesn’t want to become human” as a key point, explaining, “Unlike typical stories that start with a desire to become something, ‘Today I’m Human’ does the opposite.” The character Eun-ho differs significantly from past depictions of gumihos who long to be human, as she is completely satisfied with her unique existence.

Eun-ho utilizes her centuries-honed powers to make money by granting wishes for humans at a price, ensuring she avoids becoming human through various minor misdeeds.

The reimagined ‘MZ Gumiho’ Eun-ho combines familiarity with novelty, portraying her as a relatable and distinguished character who evokes empathy and humor.

#. Enchanting Chemistry of ‘Romantic Comedy Fairy’ Kim Hye-yoon X ‘Rising Star’ Lomon

The captivating chemistry between the gumiho and the human promises excitement for drama fans. Kim Hye-yoon returns 1 year and 8 months later as Eun-ho, the MZ gumiho who does not wish to become human.

Her charming performance is set to carry on the legacy of the ‘K-Gumiho,’ showcasing her evolution in a uniquely engaging role. Kim Hye-yoon shared, “Meet the unprecedented ‘MZ Gumiho’ character, and focus on the dynamic and elaborate styles and the evolving relationship between Eun-ho and Kang Si-yeol. Stay curious about Eun-ho’s unpredictable future.”

Lomon ventures into the romantic comedy genre as world-renowned soccer player ‘Kang Si-yeol.’ With refined acting skills and a mature charm, he is poised to continue his rise.

Lomon expressed, “While there are certainly smiles and excitement, there will also be moments that linger in your heart. I hope that by the end of the series, viewers reconsider love and relationships.”

Meanwhile, SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama ‘Today I’m Human’ premieres today (the 16th) at 9:50 PM.
