Woo Do-hwan Takes on His First Historical Drama: Charisma of an Elite Soldier

Disney+’s original series “Made in Korea” has unveiled character stills of Woo Do-hwan’s elite soldier, Baek Ki-hyun, showcasing his upright demeanor.

Set in the 1970s, “Made in Korea” tells the story of Baek Ki-tae (played by Hyun Bin), a man striving for wealth and power by using the nation as a revenue model, confronted by prosecutor Jang Geon-young (played by Jung Woo-sung), who pursues him with determined tenacity. The drama unfolds against the backdrop of monumental events that defined the era.

After leaving a strong impression in the drama “Save Me” and capturing the hearts of numerous global fans through OTT series like “The Divine Fury,” “The King: Eternal Monarch,” and “Mr. Plankton,” actor Woo Do-hwan challenges himself with his first historical drama with Disney+’s “Made in Korea.”

Baek Ki-hyun, the younger brother of Baek Ki-tae, is following an elite path from the top of the military academy to security services. Despite his tough exterior as a formidable officer, he harbors a conflicted love-hate relationship with his brother, adding depth and gravitas to the narrative through Woo Do-hwan’s nuanced acting. His ambition to escape his brother’s shadow manifests as another great desire, adding tension that leaves viewers on edge.

The released character stills of Baek Ki-hyun emphasize the multifaceted nature of the elite officer. In one, he appears indoors in a neat suit and pomaded hair, exuding a tidy and composed presence that harmonizes with the period’s ambiance, evoking a warm smile. In contrast, another still captures him in military uniform with a stern expression, exuding the overwhelming charisma of an elite officer, heightening tension. These dual images reveal Baek Ki-hyun’s complex character and raise anticipation for Woo Do-hwan’s performance in “Made in Korea.”

Disney+’s original series “Made in Korea,” capturing attention with its intriguing character battle, will be exclusively available on Disney+ with two episodes premiering on the 24th and 31st of this month, followed by one episode on January 7th and 14th, totaling six episodes.
