SBS is set to introduce a new spirited legal drama with its upcoming series ‘Spirit Office.’ The network, known for its compelling courtroom dramas, is expanding its repertoire with this fresh production.
SBS has mastered character-driven narratives and vivid portrayals of justice. Previously, the network showcased ‘One Dollar Lawyer,’ where quirky lawyer Cheon Ji-hun (played by Namkoong Min) delivered thrilling twists by taking on cases for just 1,000 won. They pushed boundaries with ‘Judge from Hell,’ which featured a demon inhabiting the body of Judge Kang Bit-na (played by Park Shin-hye), punishing criminals who evaded justice. By consistently placing strong heroes at the forefront, SBS has continually expanded the spectrum of the courtroom drama genre.
While ‘One Dollar Lawyer’ surprised viewers with clever arguments and strategic turnarounds, ‘Judge from Hell’ offered intense catharsis by directly addressing societal rage. The new Friday-Saturday drama ‘Spirit Office,’ premiering on March 13, is set to carry on this impactful legacy.
‘Spirit Office’ follows the supernatural adventures of Shin-Irang, a ‘spirit-seeing lawyer’ who resolves the grudges of the deceased. Paired with ‘cold-blooded elite lawyer’ Han Na-hyun, the series promises a unique blend of poignancy and warmth. A considerable draw of this drama is its broadening of the hero trope, as attorney Shin-Irang (played by Yoo Yeon-seok) involuntarily gains the ability to see ghosts and hear their grievances. The story begins as these abilities, seemingly thrust upon him by fate, unfold. His clients are not the living but those who have left this world with unresolved grudges.

Yoo Yeon-seok takes on the role of Shin-Irang, navigating unpredictable challenges without backing down. His character not only empathizes with his unique clients’ heartbreaking stories but also adds humor as he suddenly starts seeing ghosts and reacts with bewilderment and fear. The unexpected situations arising from possessions, involving people of all ages, provide comedic elements that enhance the narrative.
In facing his involuntary powers, Shin-Irang struggles yet showcases decisive insight and logic, capable of overturning unfavorable trials. These aspects promise to deliver a compelling mix of astuteness and charisma, forming another noteworthy hero.
Viewers can anticipate dynamic chemistry with Han Na-hyun (played by Esom), who, unlike Shin-Irang, sees through cases with cool rationality. Their relationship, marked by intense rivalry and unexpected teamwork, will add a flavorful depth to character interactions.
According to the production team, “‘Spirit Office’ combines SBS’s legal drama expertise with a fantasy setting. The story includes thrilling plot twists and conveys a heartfelt message by giving voice to the wronged.” They added, “Yoo Yeon-seok’s Shin-Irang is a hero who, while not perfect, cannot turn his back on others. Watching the development of this differentiated hero will be entertaining.”
SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama ‘Spirit Office’ will premiere on Friday, March 13 at 9:50 PM.
