Actress Yoon Seung-ah reflected on her husband Kim Moo-yeol’s early career struggles, expressing her unwavering affection.
On the July 1 broadcast of tvN’s variety show ‘You Quiz on the Block’, actor Kim Moo-yeol, who played Na Hwa-jin in the Netflix drama ‘Teach You a Lesson’, appeared. His role helped drive the show to the top spot in 45 countries globally.
Yoo Jae-suk congratulated Kim Moo-yeol on his appearance, mentioning ‘Teach You a Lesson’ and remarking, “Many reactions call it ‘refreshing’. The drama is generating buzz. How does it feel? Are you not receiving many offers from various places?”
Kim Moo-yeol expressed his joy, saying, “I’ve received many messages. People I’ve known for a long time are as happy as if it’s their own achievement. The exchanged texts touched me deeply.”
He added, “I feel the popularity. I’ve lived in the same neighborhood for over 10 years, and for the first time, people are telling me ‘You’re cool’. Thanks to the project,” he laughed, “I’ve secured my next and future projects. It’s good to capitalize on this momentum.”
Kim Moo-yeol also shared his concerns and anxieties about the ‘Teach You a Lesson’ project, saying, “After deciding to appear, I continuously discussed needed improvements on set. Everyone on set worked together as one.”
Despite reaching the pinnacle of his career, Kim Moo-yeol recalled a time when he earned only 200,000 won a year. He said, “Looking back, even while doing many part-time jobs, I was just happy to continue acting. Though lacking in many ways, being able to perform was enough joy.”
In an interview appearance, Kim Moo-yeol’s wife, Yoon Seung-ah, surprised viewers by saying, “We started off very tough,” recalling the reactions when their relationship became known, with many questioning, “Why date a poor man?”
Yoon Seung-ah said, “I didn’t know it was hard. I thought Kim Moo-yeol was the most impressive on stage, always shining. His perseverance through tough times and hardworking attitude were inspiring. Thanks to him, I could endure and be happy.”
Kim Moo-yeol admitted, “I faced failures and frustrations as an actor. I learned about ‘Teach You a Lesson’ reaching number one globally through the director. I wanted to tell my wife face-to-face but couldn’t find the words. Tears welled up, and we cried together.”
Yoon Seung-ah added tearfully, “I’ve rarely seen him cry, but he thanked me with tears this time. Watching actor Kim Moo-yeol’s long journey moved me deeply. I told him ‘You’ve worked hard.'”
