‘EXO-style Ballad’ is here… ‘Let Me In’ featuring Kai, who is enlisting.
The group EXO has surprised fans by releasing a new song.
EXO (Suho, Chanyeol, Kai, D.O., Baekhyun, Sehun, Xiumin, Chen) released their new song ‘Let Me In’ on the 12th at 6 p.m. along with the music video.
‘Let Me In’ is a song that was first unveiled at EXO’s 11th debut anniversary fan meeting in April. It is a ballad song that combines dreamy sounds and restrained emotions. Given that EXO has received much love for their ballad songs like ‘The First Snow,’ ‘Miracles in December,’ and ‘Sing For You,’ fans were even more excited to witness the vocal harmony and singing ability of the members in this ‘EXO-style Ballad.’
The lyrics metaphorically express the desperate desire to be together endlessly, comparing it to the blue sea. The heartfelt lyrics such as “Even if everything stops and I cover my eyes and ears / Even if I can’t breathe, to you, to you / Even if everything stops, please let our lips meet / Even if it can’t last forever, like this, like this” contributed to the immersion in the song.
EXO, who announced a full-group comeback this year, will release their 7th full album ‘EXIST’ on July 10th, containing a total of 9 songs. However, due to the members’ military enlistments, EXO could not promote as a complete group. Kai’s sudden enlistment last month further prevented all 8 members from promoting together.
Nevertheless, it is expected that Kai’s voice will be heard on the album. Fans were also delighted to see Kai’s appearance and hear his voice in the music video for ‘Let Me In,’ which was released on the same day.
Furthermore, EXO’s new album garnered anticipation as it is their first album release in over two years since the special album ‘Don’t Fight the Feeling’ in June 2021 and their first regular album in approximately 3 years and 8 months since the release of the 6th album ‘Obsession’ in November 2019.
However, with Kai’s enlistment and the three members, Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin, informing their agency SM of their termination of exclusive contracts on the 1st, clouds have formed over their comeback. The three members claimed forced slave contracts, while SM countered their claims, leading to a deadlock in the situation.
SM later announced, “As we have prepared diligently, album-related promotions will proceed as planned, and we will soon announce detailed schedules.” They also revealed news about the release of the new song’s music video and group reality show filming.
Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin’s side stated, “Regardless of how the legal issues are resolved, we will continue to work hard and carry on activities as a team called EXO.” SM also expressed their commitment to “make efforts to maintain EXO’s activities.” Despite the unresolved disputes involving some members, EXO embarked on their 11th-anniversary comeback with this album.
