NewJeans has made a new history on the U.S. Billboard just one year after their debut.
According to the latest Billboard chart released on the 2nd (local time) (dated August 5th), NewJeans’ 2nd mini album ‘Get Up’ reached the top of the ‘Billboard 200’. The triple title tracks of the album, ‘Super Shy’, ‘ETA’, and ‘Cool With You’, ranked 48th, 81st, and 93rd on the ‘Hot 100’ respectively, successfully entering the charts.
This time, NewJeans’ 2nd mini album ‘Get Up’ reportedly sold 126,500 copies (counted from July 21st to 27th) in the United States. Billboard reported, “In the past 15 years, the only girl groups to top the ‘Billboard 200’ chart are BLACKPINK and NewJeans.”
Furthermore, Billboard took note that all three triple title tracks from ‘Get Up’ entered the ‘Hot 100’ chart. Among K-pop boy groups and girl groups, only BTS had achieved a similar feat.
Meanwhile, on the 3rd, at 5 p.m. (Korean time, 7 a.m. on the 4th), NewJeans is scheduled to perform at the U.S. music festival Lollapalooza in Chicago.
