Actor Yoo Ah-in (real name Uhm Hong-sik), who is facing drug administration allegations, attended the prosecution.
On the morning of the 12th, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office’s Violent Crimes Investigation Unit (headed by Prosecutor Shin Jun-ho) summoned actor Yoo Ah-in for questioning on allegations of habitual drug use (violation of the Narcotics Control Act).
This is the first interrogation conducted after being handed over to the prosecution, following his non-arrest detention by the police six months ago.
The police initiated an investigation after receiving records from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety last year, stating that Mr. Yoo had administered propofol more than 4,000 mL a total of 73 times in one year in 2021.
Yoo Ah-in faces allegations of administering more than 8 types of narcotics, including marijuana, propofol, cocaine, ketamine, and zolpidem, as well as other drugs such as midazolam, alprazolam, totaling 8 or more types of drugs.
Previously, the police applied for an arrest warrant for Mr. Yoo after two rounds of suspect interviews, citing concerns of evidence tampering and flight risk, but it was rejected by the court in May. Subsequently, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office’s Violent Crimes Investigation Unit (headed by Prosecutor Shin Jun-ho) decided to re-examine the entire Yoo Ah-in drug case handed over from the police.
Meanwhile, the prosecution is also investigating accomplices, including YouTuber Kim, who is accused of smoking marijuana while traveling in the United States with Yoo Ah-in and others in January of this year.
