The movie ‘The Running Man’ has received praise from its original author, Stephen King.
Directed by Edgar Wright, ‘The Running Man’ is a chase action blockbuster where unemployed family man Ben Richards (played by Glen Powell) must survive for 30 days against brutal hunters in a global survival program for a huge prize.
Stephen King, the author of the original novel ‘The Running Man’, has conveyed special points of praise, drawing attention. After watching the film, King remarked, ‘It’s fantastic. It feels like a modern ‘Die Hard’, a thrilling thrill ride!’ increasing anticipation for ‘The Running Man’. In a conversation with director Edgar Wright, King also expressed, ‘I am very satisfied with the movie. Everything came together very naturally’, and ‘This film has a spark like ‘Die Hard’, showcasing his confidence in the work.
Stephen King also highlighted that the imagination in his novel from over 40 years ago, such as the misapplication of deepfake technology and the easy exposure of daily life to cameras, has been faithfully captured in the movie. ‘I liked the scene where someone says, ‘You’re on FreeV right now’, while drones acting as cameras hover around, following people everywhere. Those kinds of things are already happening in reality,’ emphasizing the film’s settings are aligned with today’s reality.
The world of ‘The Running Man’, which accurately reflects the key elements of the original, is set to be vividly portrayed on screen with Stephen King’s sharp insights combined with Edgar Wright’s unique rhythmic direction.

Regarding Glen Powell, who plays Ben Richards, Stephen King commented, ”Ben Richards’ is a very likable character. It’s crucial to feel a connection to the protagonist. The character played by Glen Powell genuinely feels like someone you would know, and that’s wonderful. It makes him feel like a real person,’ lavishing praise on Powell’s portrayal of the character’s everyman quality.
With Edgar Wright’s signature rhythmic direction and Glen Powell’s fearless performance, ‘The Running Man’, promising a dopamine-packed action experience, is set to release on the 10th.
