Why Did Kim Go-eun Cut Her Hair Short?

Actress Kim Go-eun has revealed the reason behind her dramatic haircut.

For the upcoming Netflix series, ‘The Price of Confession,’ where she plays the mysterious character ‘Mo-eun,’ Kim chose to cut her hair short.

Kim Go-eun’s shocking first short haircut was revealed at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) red carpet last September. The unexpected transformation drew a heated response both locally and internationally. Since then, she has naturally transitioned to a bob style that she has showcased on several occasions.

On the 3rd, at a press screening and conference for ‘The Price of Confession,’ she again grabbed attention with her sharp bob. It seemed to signal a new, tougher character image.

Discussing her role as Mo-eun, Kim explained, “Typically, when thinking of such a role, the eyes behind the hair come to mind. But I felt I shouldn’t hide behind my hair this time,” she said about her bold styling decision. “I wanted the character to be someone whose thoughts are inscrutable even when fully visible. I aimed to portray weakness in the visible image and subtle expressions even in a neutral face,” she added.

Kim Go-eun, who personally suggested the short cut to the director, shared, “I found some photos and asked if such a short style was okay, and the director was quite surprised. During the test shoot, senior actress Jeon Do-yeon commented that it was a good choice, which reassured me,” she revealed the story behind the daring haircut.

Meanwhile, ‘The Price of Confession’ is a psychological thriller about truth, lies, and guilt, increasing excitement to see another facet of Kim Go-eun’s acting skills. It will be released worldwide on Netflix on the 5th.
