The new Girls’ Generation (SNSD) unit, Hyorisu, has named Hyoyeon as its main vocalist, drawing significant attention.
On the morning of May 2, a video titled “Pack Your Passport, Hyorisu is Off to the Grammys / Fake Kim Hyoyeon | Hyorisu Debut Project Episode 1” was uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘Hyoyeon’s Level Up.’
In the video, Hyoyeon, Yuri, and Sooyoung were seen campaigning throughout the office building to become the unit’s main vocalist.
After conducting both online and offline voting, the trio gathered to review the results. Sooyoung impressively secured first place in the online voting, which accounted for 20% of the total, but was surprised to receive only three votes in the offline segment.
With offline votes making up 80% of the total, Hyoyeon ultimately garnered 66.6% of the votes, securing her position as the main vocalist and officially naming the unit ‘Hyorisu’.
Sooyoung reacted with disbelief, stating, “This is ridiculous. How can this happen? Wasn’t I number one in likes and views? Frankly, I thought Yuri would get more votes, so I voted for you. The voting ratio makes no sense. I can’t accept it,” she protested.
Meanwhile, Yuri expressed confusion, asking, “Did no one vote for me?”
After being named the main vocalist, Hyoyeon shared, “I never imagined I’d actually achieve this. It’s a tremendous honor to be the main vocalist among such talented members. I’ll work diligently not to let Hyorisu down.”
Yuri also referenced YG, remarking, “This is all we need. We need to break away from SM. Honestly, if we had gone to YG, we might have even surpassed Taetiseo.” Sooyoung concurred, adding, “I’ve always felt I have YG DNA.”
