Actor Park Seo-joon and Won Ji-an are set to captivate audiences with a romantic narrative of breakups and reunions.

On the 4th, the production presentation for JTBC’s new weekend drama ‘Waiting for Kyungdo’ took place at The Link Hotel Seoul in Guro, Seoul. Director Lim Hyun-wook, along with actors Park Seo-joon and Won Ji-an, attended the event.

‘Waiting for Kyungdo’ follows the story of Lee Kyung-do (played by Park Seo-joon) and Seo Ji-woo (played by Won Ji-an), who meet again as a reporter and the wife involved in a scandal they once reported on after having two past romances.

Director Lim Hyun-wook expressed his excitement, saying, “I know many people have been waiting for Kyungdo, as suggested by the title. We have been eagerly waiting as well. We are thrilled and excited to finally share this with everyone, and confident that viewers will love it.”

Park Seo-joon takes on the role of Lee Kyung-do, an entertainment journalist for ‘Dongwoon Daily’. His character undergoes changes after reuniting with his first love, Seo Ji-woo, and becoming embroiled in a scandal.

Park, who is returning to TV drama after five years since ‘Itaewon Class’, said, “Whenever I attend a production presentation, I feel thrilled that it is about to be unveiled. I remember everything from casting to the end of shooting vividly and am eagerly awaiting the premiere.”

He acknowledged the pressure of portraying his role, stating, “After finishing filming and starting promotions, I realized how much time had passed. I felt more focused on expressing Kyung-do’s character intricately rather than worrying about outcomes, which are beyond my control.”

Regarding the drama, he emphasized, “The story resonated with reality, and I started it with the belief that many will enjoy it.”

‘Waiting for Kyungdo’ evolves around a couple who met as freshmen, broke up twice, yet couldn’t forget each other. They reunite years later as individuals tied to a scandal article.

Park found the complex story to be intriguing, stating, “The script’s impressive narrative inspired me to want to portray it delicately, leading to a strong belief in creating a great drama.”

Filming involved capturing moments from ages 20, 25, and the present, which Park managed by imagining the spaces in between, aiming to express a consistent character nuanced with age-specific details.

Regarding their romantic chemistry, Park noted, “It was fantastic. Genres like this require the lead actors to drive the story, and Ji-woo’s role could only be expressed by Ji-an. We grew close naturally, enjoying the collaboration.”

Won Ji-an expressed gratitude towards Park, recalling, “I was nervous about the long shoots, but Park made the environment comfortable from the start. I leaned on him and Director Lim, appreciating their support.”

Won Ji-an plays Seo Ji-woo, the beautiful second daughter of a fashion mogul, known for her bold demeanor and significant public interest.

She shared her excitement, saying, “I’m thrilled and nervous. Filming wrapped up two months ago, yet it feels like yesterday.”

Describing her character, she explained, “Ji-woo is unpredictable and quirky, yet carries pain and grows alongside Kyung-do.”

Reflecting on her role, she emphasized the relationship with Kyung-do, saying, “Each scene required understanding the timeline and emotions, making imagination a key part of performance.”

Park concluded, “I hope everyone looks forward to ‘Waiting for Kyungdo’, which will play with your emotions.”

The JTBC drama ‘Waiting for Kyungdo’ airs its first episode on the 6th at 10:40 PM.
