The film ‘The Running Man’ has received acclaim from the original novel’s author, Stephen King.
Directed by Edgar Wright, ‘The Running Man’ is an action-packed blockbuster about Ben Richards (played by Glen Powell), an unemployed man who must survive a global survival program for 30 days to win a huge cash prize, evading relentless pursuers.
Attention is drawn to the special points of praise directly conveyed by Stephen King, the author of the original novel. After watching the film, King praised it as “fantastic, like a modern-day ‘Die Hard’, a thrilling thriller!”, boosting expectations for ‘The Running Man’. In a conversation with director Edgar Wright, he expressed satisfaction, stating, “I am very satisfied with the film. Everything fits together very naturally,” and “The film has a sparkle like ‘Die Hard’.”
Stephen King noted that the imagination of the novel, published over 40 years ago, is vividly reflected in the film, including the abuse of deepfake technology and daily lives easily exposed to cameras. He highlighted a scene where a man says “You’re on FreeVee now,” accompanied by drones acting as cameras following people around, which mirrors today’s reality.
The world of ‘The Running Man’, which faithfully reflects the key elements of the original, is set to be vividly realized on screen, combining Stephen King’s sharp insights with Edgar Wright’s rhythmical direction.

Regarding Glen Powell, who plays Ben Richards, Stephen King commented, “‘Ben Richards’ is a very likable character. It is very important for the protagonist to be likable. Glen Powell’s portrayal makes him feel like a real person.” King lavishly praised Powell’s performance, highlighting his portrayal of an everyman.
With Edgar Wright’s characteristic rhythmical directing and Glen Powell’s dedicated performance, ‘The Running Man’ promises dopamine-filled action, and is set to be released on the 10th.
