Netflix has confirmed the production of the new series ‘Dealer’ and announced the casting of Jung So-min, Ryu Seung-bum, Lee Soo-hyuk, and Ryu Kyung-soo.
The crime drama ‘Dealer’ centers on casino dealer Geon-hwa, who uses her hidden skills to protect her endangered marriage plans by entering a dangerous gambling world. Jung So-min, known for her work in a variety of genres from romance to comedy to fantasy, will play Jeong Geon-hwa, showcasing a new side of her acting abilities. Geon-hwa, a skilled dealer who typically stays away from alcohol and gambling, taps into her latent abilities to navigate the perilous gambling scene after being defrauded while trying to buy a new home.
Ryu Seung-bum, known for his wide character range in works including the Netflix film ‘Good News’, ‘Tazza: One-Eyed Jack’, and ‘The Berlin File’, will portray Hwang Chi-soo, displaying a strong presence once again. Chi-soo is a character who gambles with money earned from begging at casinos and becomes involved in Geon-hwa’s plans. Ryu’s unique and charismatic acting style is expected to enhance the character’s charm.
Lee Soo-hyuk, noted for his powerful visuals and unique style in dramas such as ‘S-Line’ and ‘The Queen Woo’, joins as Jo Joon, a dynamic player at the casino table who adds a fresh sense of tension with his excellent skills and poker face.
Ryu Kyung-soo, who has delivered strong performances in the Netflix series ‘The Bequeathed’, the film ‘Noise’, and ‘The Opposition’, will play Choi Woo-seung, Geon-hwa’s boyfriend and a passionate detective. He is described as endlessly tender toward Geon-hwa, yet persistently driven when pursuing cases, showcasing a broadened acting spectrum.
The series is directed by Choi Young-hwan, known for his cinematically engaging work in films like ‘Smugglers’, ‘Veteran’, ‘Tazza’, and ‘The Thieves’. His approach to capturing the vibrant casino backdrop raises anticipation.
Additionally, Firstman Studio, the production company behind the global hit ‘Squid Game’, is involved in the production. Director Hwang Dong-hyuk, the creator of ‘Squid Game’, also participates as a planner and producer, enhancing the project’s credibility.
The series ‘Dealer’, which is expected to showcase strong synergy from its unique cast and experienced creators, will premiere on Netflix.
