Channel A’s weekend drama ‘Our Baby is Coming,’ a romantic comedy about a one-night adventure between two people who had vowed never to marry, has captivated both domestic and international audiences in just two episodes, emerging as a dark horse in the entertainment scene. The show is accelerating its global success, dominating domestic buzz and international chart rankings.
Notably, the show’s ratings nearly doubled from the first to the second episode, suggesting a strong start. According to Nielsen Korea, the second episode, broadcast on the 18th, recorded a peak rating of 2.2%, roughly double that of the first episode, indicating a positive upward trend in viewership.
Furthermore, according to GOODDATA Corporation’s official platform FUNdex, the show ranked 7th in TV drama buzz in the third week of January and 3rd in the news category. As of January 20th, it ranked 5th in Netflix’s ‘Today’s Top 10 Series in South Korea’ and achieved 2nd place on Taiwan’s exclusive OTT platform ‘FridayTV,’ illustrating its widespread appeal.
Most notably, ‘Our Baby is Coming’ sparked international interest even before its broadcast, resulting in its pre-sale and simultaneous broadcast in 187 countries through global OTT platforms like Rakuten Viki and major Japanese streamer U-NEXT. This achievement highlights the potential for global success, reinforcing Channel A’s strength in K-romantic comedies.
