Prime Minister Kim Min-seok Visits HYBE, Citing BTS’s ‘Significant’ Gwanghwamun Comeback

Prime Minister Kim Min-seok addressed the full-group comeback of BTS.

On the afternoon of the 21st, Prime Minister Kim visited the HYBE headquarters in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and held a town hall meeting with HYBE staff.

Regarding BTS, who are set for a full comeback in March, Prime Minister Kim stated, “Performing their comeback stage at Gwanghwamun, a place defended with light sticks, holds great significance.”

He also emphasized, “Freedom is rooted in our history and the existence of Hallyu today is because we were able to preserve that freedom. The root of Hallyu is free democracy.”

Prime Minister Kim promised, “With the new wave of momentum that will come with BTS’s full-group comeback this year, K-pop will amaze the world once again. The core of the K-pop ecosystem is ultimately people. We will consider various policy support and improvements to create a creator-centered production environment where they can focus on creativity with peace of mind and nurture young talent.”

Meanwhile, BTS will make a full comeback with their 5th studio album ‘ARIRANG’ on March 20, returning as a complete group after a hiatus of 3 years and 9 months. Following the release of their new album, they will embark on a large-scale world tour starting in Goyang on April 9.

In this context, on the 20th, the Cultural Heritage Administration conditionally approved HYBE’s request for venue usage and filming at Gyeongbokgung Palace and Sungnyemun. BTS is set to commence filming for their comeback at sites including Gyeongbokgung and Gwanghwamun.
