X1 Reunion Rumors Surface; Agencies Deny Knowledge

Will X1 follow in the footsteps of Wanna One and reunite?

On the 22nd, a media outlet reported that former Mnet producer An Joon-young recently contacted some X1 members to propose participation in a reality show.

According to the report, the program is still in the discussion stage, and nothing has been confirmed regarding its broadcast.

Most agencies representing X1 members stated they had “not heard anything” about such plans.

Previously, news emerged that another boy group from the ‘Produce’ series, Wanna One, would reunite after seven years for a reality show.

At that time, Mnet stated, “We are preparing for a release in the first half of this year. Details on the schedule and specifics will be announced once confirmed.”

This has sparked interest in X1’s reunion, but the likelihood of it happening remains low.

X1 is often referred to as the ‘unfortunate idols’ in the K-pop scene. In 2019, An Joon-young was sentenced to two years for manipulating rankings during four seasons of the ‘Produce’ series and accepting entertainment bribes worth about 37 million won from agency officials.

An’s arrest, which coincided with X1’s activity period following their formation on the fourth season of ‘Produce X101,’ led to the group’s dissolution just five months after their debut, leaving a painful mark. Since then, members have pursued individual activities, including re-debuting with their original agencies, or as solo artists and actors.

An Joon-young completed his two-year sentence and was released in November 2021. He rejoined Mnet in April 2023.
