Pre-orders for K-pop group BTS’s new album have surpassed 4 million copies in just one week.
According to album distributor YG Plus, BTS’s fifth studio album, ‘ARIRANG,’ recorded 4.06 million pre-orders as of January 22. This achievement comes just a week after pre-orders began on January 16.
This figure surpasses the group’s previous best-selling album, their fourth studio album ‘MAP OF THE SOUL : 7,’ which recorded 3.42 million pre-orders in its first week during its 2020 pre-sale and later exceeded 5 million copies, according to Circle Chart. The new album is accelerating its pre-order numbers at a faster pace. With ‘ARIRANG’ still two months away from its official release, anticipation is high for record-breaking numbers by the end of the pre-order period.

Interest in BTS’s comeback is evident across various metrics. Following the announcement of the new album release and world tour on the global fan platform Weverse, membership sign-ups surged approximately threefold.
On the global audio and music streaming platform Spotify, the new album’s pre-save count surpassed 1 million just two days after pre-saves began, and exceeded 2 million on the fourth day. Attention focuses on whether it will surpass the record for most pre-saves (approximately 6 million) set by Taylor Swift with her 12th studio album, ‘The Life of a Showgirl.’
Meanwhile, ‘ARIRANG,’ BTS’s first new album as a full group in approximately 3 years and 9 months, is set to be released at 1 PM on March 20. The album is expected to resonate with global music fans as it explores universal emotions of identity, longing, and deep love.
