ENHYPEN member Sunghoon will participate as a torchbearer for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, his agency Belift Lab announced on January 24.
Sunghoon’s involvement comes through a recommendation from Samsung Electronics, an official sponsor of the event. He has a strong connection to winter sports, having been a reserve for the national figure skating team before his debut. Since last year, he has also served as a promotional ambassador for the Korea Sports & Olympic Committee, bridging the gap between the public and sports. With his experience as an athlete and his influence as an artist, Sunghoon aims to deliver a message of peace and friendship that connects the world through this torch-bearing event.
Sunghoon is one of only two K-pop artists in history to participate in an Olympic torch relay held overseas. His invitation to such a significant international event highlights his impressive stature.
Through Belift Lab, Sunghoon stated, “Above all, I am well aware of the passionate efforts and hard work of the national athletes who have trained for this Winter Olympics, and I have the greatest desire to support them.” He added, “Personally, it was my dream to compete in the Olympics while I was an athlete, and I am happy and honored to realize that dream as a singer.”
Meanwhile, ENHYPEN, the group to which Sunghoon belongs, is enjoying top global popularity with its unique album storytelling and overwhelming performance skills. Last year, they swept grand prizes at major music award ceremonies, emerging as ‘the new leaders of K-pop’. ENHYPEN’s recently released 7th mini-album ‘THE SIN : VANISH’ sold 2.07 million copies in its first week, marking the group’s fourth ‘double million seller’ in total.
