Nancy

The Korea-Nigeria joint ‘K-Pop Afrobeats Film Project’ has finalized its leads, including MOMOLAND’s Nancy, Nigerian actor Uto Rosman, and Sydney Sital, and is entering full production.

The film will be directed by Myung Hyun-woo, known for his stylish direction in the recent drama ‘Check-in Hanyang’. The script and adaptation, penned by writers Kim Yoo-jun and Lee Hyo-jin, are expected to enhance the story’s completeness.

Notably, Director Myung Hyun-woo previously won the Drama of the Year Award at the ‘Vietnam VTV Drama Awards’ for the Vietnam joint production ‘Youth Today’ starring Kang Tae-oh, further raising expectations for this project.

Set in Seoul, the ‘K-Pop Afrobeats Film Project’ plans to artfully integrate two globally influential music genres, Afrobeats and K-Pop, into the film.

Sydney Sital

The ‘K-Pop Afrobeats Film Project’ aims to carry on the enthusiasm generated by ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’, positioning itself as a significant global K-Pop project and an unprecedented cultural crossover venture.

The global casting lineup is remarkable. MOMOLAND’s Nancy, known for her hit songs, and Canadian-Nigerian singer and actor Uto Rosman have confirmed their appearances. Sydney Sital, a leading influencer and international model from South Africa, will make her acting debut through this joint production.

Sydney Sital, collaborating with her sister, South African artist Tyla, is expected to continue her creative journey in the entertainment industry, further raising anticipation for the project among global fans.

The production is a collaboration between Big Ocean ENM, known for producing numerous content including ‘The Fiery Priest 2’ and ‘Flex X Cop’, and Nigeria’s renowned production company Nemsia Studios, which has been consistently recognized at major awards like the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.

Nemsia Studios’ multi-feature film contract with Amazon Prime Video is especially noteworthy, promising strong synergy.

A representative from Big Ocean ENM stated, “As the first joint film with an African country, the ‘K-Pop Afrobeats Film Project’ goes beyond mere collaboration, showcasing the market expansion of K-content and the continuous cooperation potential between the film industries of both countries. It plans to capture a diverse story set against the backdrop of Seoul’s beauty.”
