Ha Jung-woo Faces Debt as a ‘Landlord’ in New Drama; Poster Poses ‘Do You Want to Become One Too?’

Ha Jung-woo’s new drama ‘How to Become a Landlord in Korea’ has unveiled an intriguing poster, hinting at a character who risks ‘everything on the line.’

Set to premiere on March 14, tvN’s new weekend drama ‘How to Become a Landlord in Korea’ (hereafter ‘Landlord’) follows the suspenseful journey of a debt-ridden, working-class landlord. He becomes entangled in a fake kidnapping scheme to safeguard his family and building, which he values more than life itself.

The drama ‘Landlord’ features a stellar lineup of actors known for their distinct talents, including Ha Jung-woo, Im Soo-jung, Kim Joon-han, Jung Soo-jung, and Shim Eun-kyung. Notably, Ha Jung-woo, a prominent figure in Korean cinema, is generating high anticipation with ‘Landlord’ marking his return to the small screen after 19 years.

The newly released poster introduces Gi Su-jong (played by Ha Jung-woo), who has achieved the coveted dream of becoming a ‘landlord,’ yet his expression is etched with worry. The phrase “everything on the line”—referring to taking on maximum debt—stands in stark contrast to the enviable lives of ‘building owners’ and ‘godlike landlords.’ He is surrounded by a pile of arrears notices, overdue bills, and loan reminders.

In the background stands his sole hope, the dilapidated three-story Se-yoon Building. Gi Su-jong, having held out for redevelopment, resorts to desperate measures when the building faces a crisis. Yet, the more he attempts to resolve the issues, the more complicated the situation becomes, spiraling into unmanageable events. His precarious position, buried under a mountain of debt, intensifies curiosity about the lengths he will go to protect his building.

The poster’s headline, “Do You Want to Become a Landlord Too?” underscores the protagonist’s ironic predicament: instead of thriving, he is pushed to the brink, creating tension around his fight to retain the building. This also heightens anticipation for Ha Jung-woo’s powerful performance.

tvN’s new weekend drama ‘How to Become a Landlord in Korea’ will premiere on Saturday, March 14, at 9:10 PM KST.
