The title track ‘BOTH SIDES’ is a hip-hop dance song characterized by its stylish sound design, smooth drum beats, and witty vocals and rap. The lyrics playfully express the desire to captivate others with two distinct charms, leading listeners into a delightful dilemma of not wanting to miss out on either side.

Through their unit activities, Jeno and Jaemin aim to showcase a new charm distinct from the group, proving their boundless potential and drawing attention with their versatile musical endeavors.
Ahead of their unit launch, NCT JNJM shared insights on their first mini-album ‘BOTH SIDES’ in a Q&A session.
Q. You are introducing a new unit as NCT JNJM. What are your thoughts on releasing an album as a unit after being together for so long?
– Jeno: We know many fans have long awaited this combination. We’re happy to deliver a satisfying result that repays their patience, and we’re excited about the new facets we’ll reveal through our unit activities.
– Jaemin: Having known each other for a long time, I’d describe our chemistry as ‘perfection itself.’ The album captures every detail of our sexy, cute, elegant, and appealing charms. Fans can look forward to seeing all the charms they expect from us!
Q. What was the main focus while preparing for the album?
– Jeno: We focused on visually and musically conveying the main theme of ‘duality.’ During recording, I paid particular attention to vocal and rap details to emphasize each track’s unique atmosphere.
– Jaemin: The album’s overarching concept was crucial. We deliberated extensively on it from the planning stages, focusing on enhancing the visual and musical conceptual charm.

Q. How did the album’s production process differ from group albums?
– Jeno: With just the two of us covering roles typically handled by seven, our individual responsibilities increased significantly. More energy was required throughout the album-making process.
– Jaemin: It was a new experience in every aspect. Our increased involvement in the album’s production led us to focus more on time management and physical condition.
Q. Though you’ve been together a long time, did you discover any new differences or reaffirm similarities while preparing this unit album?
– Jeno: Through frequent shoots together, we realized anew just how distinct our visual styles are. However, our work attitudes and methods were similar, which was reaffirming.
– Jaemin: I realized Jeno has exceptional stamina. I managed my sleep and health to keep up, which allowed us to present good synergy.
Q. Why did you choose ‘BOTH SIDES’ as your unit debut track, and what are your listening highlights?
– Jeno: Many might have expected a ‘strong and intense’ concept from us. We chose this track because it offers a new mood not previously shown in NCT activities. It’s a comfortable listen, and we hope fans find it light and enjoyable.
– Jaemin: ‘BOTH SIDES’ most convincingly represents our identity and future direction. Please focus on our chemistry and visual harmony on stage.
Q. Performance is key to NCT’s identity. What are the highlights of the performance for the title track ‘BOTH SIDES’?
– Jeno: Rather than exerting force, we designed the performance to sensitively highlight the song’s rhythm and beat. I hope you’ll focus on the chemistry that only Jaemin and I can display.
– Jaemin: The choreography emphasizes facial expressions through gestures. By following our hands, viewers can discover our diverse charms highlighted in each part.

Q. Unit activities emphasize the chemistry between two members. Were there any memorable moments during album preparation?
– Jeno: Filming the mood film with Jaemin during the ‘WIND UP’ shoot left a strong impression. Our increased immersion heightened the quality of the result.
– Jaemin: Juggling album preparation and the drama ‘WIND UP’ shoot was memorable. Though the schedule was tough, fans’ positive reactions gave me strength and satisfaction.
Q. Any notable episodes during the filming of the ‘BOTH SIDES’ music video?
– Jeno: The music video features many homage scenes, and the umbrella scene to block water stands out the most. Although I couldn’t block it perfectly, we worked hard, so please watch it fondly.
– Jaemin: There was a scene where I had to gently push an actor’s cheek, which felt awkward as I usually avoid touching others’ faces. It was memorable because I apologized to the actor.
Q. How did NCT members view this unit album? Any reactions that stayed with you or gave you strength?
– Jeno: Fellow members were very supportive. Chenle’s surprised reaction to the unexpected concept was memorable, and Mark’s support was particularly encouraging.
– Jaemin: Many expected a more intense style, so they were surprised by the light and stylish vibe. Their reactions reassured me that we prepared something unique for NCT JNJM.
Q. A word for the fans who have awaited Jeno and Jaemin’s unit debut?
– Jeno: Thank you sincerely to all Czennies who have awaited our unit since last year. We’ve worked hard, so please enjoy our current activities to the fullest!
– Jaemin: I’m thrilled our promised unit album is finally released. Please relish every element of our well-prepared album and savor our charms! Thank you always.
