
Mnet Plus, part of CJ ENM, continues to expand its presence as a K-pop content platform with growing support from global Gen Z users.
Mnet Plus recently analyzed its platform usage data, revealing that its cumulative subscriber count is nearing 45 million and its average monthly users have more than doubled compared to the previous year.
Content views increased more than sixfold, and live viewership increased over fourfold, showing a clear lock-in effect resulting from a diverse content lineup and Mnet Plus’s unique “Fan-teractive” experiences.
The synergy between Mnet Plus and its flagship music program “M Countdown” has driven strong inflow from global fandom. The platform has moved beyond simple pre-voting for chart rankings, diversifying fan-teractive content such as “Weekly M Countdown PICK” and “Monthly M Countdown PICK,” significantly increasing the time fans spend on the platform. This enthusiasm has extended to the Mnet Plus original spin-off “Introducing Waiting Room Friends (Daechinso).”
This year, both the average daily users and voting participants in “M Countdown” more than doubled compared to the same period last year. As global live viewing regions expand, with the U.S. entering the new top 10 countries, Mnet Plus has proven to be the hottest digital playground for K-pop fandom, including North America. Mnet Plus plans to introduce various participatory elements with “M Countdown” to create an organic environment for enjoying K-pop in daily life.
Mnet Plus’s influence is quickly expanding among male users as well. The platform offers a variety of free streaming content worldwide, not limited to artists but also including popular Mnet programs. For instance, the currently popular “Show Me the Money 12” attracts users from 157 regions worldwide, including Thailand, China, Indonesia, Japan, and Taiwan, who engage in “highly involved viewing patterns” with an average of 60 minutes of uninterrupted viewing. The platform also noted that approximately 32% of new subscribers are males in their teens and twenties, showcasing a new driving force for platform growth.
User interest in global projects is also notable. For Japan’s buzzworthy “PRODUCE 101 JAPAN New World,” fans from 152 regions participated in pre-broadcast voting. The voting share was not only significant in Korea and China but also in North America, recording double digits. Fans in 106 regions worldwide also viewed the preceding live event “101DAY,” reaffirming Mnet Plus as a hub for enjoying and communicating global content in real-time.
