Seth Herzog, a resident comedian on NBC’s popular talk show “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” has apologized following a controversy over comments he made regarding K-pop group BTS, Xportsnews reported.

During a taping of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on March 25 (local time), Herzog, who was conducting a pre-show segment, jokingly asked, “Is there anyone here from the North?”

The comment was reportedly part of an impromptu audience interaction. However, some audience members found the comment racially insensitive toward BTS and expressed their discomfort on social media, leading to criticism of Herzog.

Following the incident, some netizens uncovered Herzog’s past social media posts that were deemed racially insensitive toward Asians, further escalating the controversy.

As the controversy intensified, TMZ reported Herzog apologized to BTS. The network is reportedly discussing the comments with Herzog.

Meanwhile, BTS, who released their fifth studio album “Arirang” on March 20, is scheduled to appear on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on March 26-27 at 12:35 p.m. This marks their first full group appearance on the show in five years.
