Ahead of its premiere, ’21st Century Grand Princess’ is set to heighten global fan excitement with the reveal of its star-studded OST lineup.
On April 1, Kakao Entertainment unveiled the OST lineup for MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama ’21st Century Grand Princess,’ which premieres on April 10.
A total of 11 teams, including RIIZE, BOYNEXTDOOR, BIBI, SAM KIM, So Soo-bin, ALEPH, WOODZ, Lim Jung-won (Soneulmoa), KiiiKiii, Han Roro, and hrtz.wav, are participating. Their music is expected to weave into the drama, enhancing the sense of excitement.
Set in a 21st-century constitutional monarchy in Korea, ’21st Century Grand Princess’ portrays a romance where Seong Hee-joo (played by IU), who has everything but is limited by her commoner status, and Lee An-dae (played by Byeon Woo-seok), the king’s son who has nothing, overcome their social statuses.
Global fans’ anticipation for the chemistry between popular actors IU and Byeon Woo-seok is rising, leading to high pre-broadcast buzz.
Kakao Entertainment plans to enhance the drama’s quality by directly planning and producing the OST.
Popular artists from Kakao Entertainment’s labels participating in the OST will further maximize the synergy between the media and music business’s IP value chain.
Key participants include Starship Entertainment’s girl group KiiiKiii, all-around artist WOODZ from EDAM Entertainment, and global band hrtz.wav from Kakao Entertainment.
The lineup becomes even more appealing with the addition of SM Entertainment’s boy group RIIZE, known for their unique stage presence after sweeping domestic and international music charts following their debut.
Talented artists including BOYNEXTDOOR, BIBI, Han Roro, SAM KIM, So Soo-bin, ALEPH, and Lim Jung-won, vocalist for the fresh band Soneulmoa, will also grace the OST, enriching the drama’s emotional depth.
Kakao Entertainment stated that the ’21st Century Grand Princess’ OST focuses on expanding the work’s narrative and emotional depth three-dimensionally. “Each artist’s individuality and musical color blend together, heightening the drama’s enjoyment and emotional impact, and are expected to deliver the thrill of spring through music alone,” the company added.
Meanwhile, ’21st Century Grand Princess’ premieres on April 10 at 9:40 PM KST, with OST parts to be released sequentially.
