Former trainee and influencer Bianca Zhou has identified the reasons why K-pop trainees fail to debut.

An old video of influencer Bianca Zhou’s exposé, which highlighted the idol activities of GWSN’s Miya, is once again drawing attention.

In the video released last February, Zhou stated, “There are five reasons why K-pop trainees fail to debut,” with the first reason being “the presence of wealthy individuals who take up those spots due to their financial power,” causing a significant impact.

Furthermore, Zhou mentioned, “If wealthy trainees come in, they can potentially take away the opportunity from other trainees who have been with the company for a long time,” adding, “This applies not only to smaller companies but also to the ‘Big 4’ (SM, YG, JYP, and HYBE).”

Additionally, Zhou stated, “They can suddenly change the group’s concept,” mentioning that “the number of members can be altered or a transition can be made from a cute concept to a mature concept. In the process, some trainees might not adapt well and end up being expelled from the company.”

Moreover, Zhou explained, “If a company wants to debut individuals born between 2000 and 2004, those born after 2006 or before 1998 might be considered too young or too old to debut.”

Finally, he evaluated the K-pop industry as predominantly subjective since it is an artistic industry, stating, “The K-pop industry is generally an artistic industry, and therefore, mostly subjective. It can be quite unfair, but occasionally, such incidents occur.”
