The group SHINee expressed their thoughts on their 15th anniversary.
SHINee made their debut on May 25, 2008, with “Replay.” They took their first steps as an irreplaceable contemporary band that presented trends that fit well with the current era in various aspects such as music, performance, and fashion. With their solid skills and unique musical world, they produced numerous hit songs such as “Love Like Oxygen,” “Juliette,” “Ring Ding Dong,” “Lucifer,” “Sherlock (Clue+Note),” “Dream Girl,” “Everybody,” “View,” “1 of 1,” “Don’t Call Me,” and more. SHINee has received unwavering love from fans around the world, not only as a group but also through their diverse solo activities.
To commemorate their 15th debut anniversary, SHINee has announced various active engagements, including opening a pop-up store, holding a fan meeting, and releasing a new album. In relation to this, the members shared their thoughts, most memorable moments, album spoilers, and future goals through their agency, SM Entertainment, on this day (25th).
Here are the Q&A responses directly from SHINee about their 15th debut anniversary.
Q: How do you feel about reaching your 15th debut anniversary?
Onew: I’m amazed at how quickly 15 years have passed, and I feel proud because I’ve experienced and challenged many things during our activities as SHINee.
Key: We’ve really reached the 15th anniversary. The feeling is truly fresh.
Minho: It may sound cliché, but I don’t really feel it. I’m just grateful and happy that my dream since high school has been continuing.
Taemin: I’m really excited because a comeback is approaching after a long time. I can’t believe how time has flown… Every time I hear about the 15th anniversary, I’m surprised! (laughs)
Q: Throughout your various activities and moments with fans, is there a particularly memorable activity or moment that stands out?
Onew: I remember the time when we lived together in the dormitory with the members. And the stages where we received the fans’ support are always in my heart.
Key: From the day of our debut to all the anniversaries, fan meetings, concerts, and all the moments, every single one is precious and vivid.
Minho: There are so many memories, so it’s hard to pick one, but if I have to choose, it would be the concerts. I remember all the concerts. The performances we created together with SHINee World (fan club name) are precious, and just the thought of them overwhelms and excites me.
Taemin: Every performance is precious, but the one that comes to mind right away is our first Tokyo Dome stage in 2015, which was the largest in scale.
Q: Why do you think SHINee has been loved for such a long time?
Onew: I think it’s because of our sincerity. Since all the members genuinely work hard, people appreciate that.
Key: I think it’s because the name “SHINee” carries expectations, and we try to meet those expectations by making an effort.
Minho: People see us in a positive light because we always do our best, and that’s why we’re always grateful. Of course, all artists are like that, but SHINee is a team that pours everything out on stage to the point of exhaustion.
Taemin: I think it’s because our fans have loyal personalities. (laughs) Many people have witnessed our growth since our school days, so I think they keep SHINee in their hearts like memories from their school years.
Q: What does “SHINee-like” mean to SHINee?
Onew: I think it means “uniqueness.” I’m always grateful for the saying, “SHINee is different when they do it.”
Key: It’s about always seeking something new = being “SHINee-like.”
Minho: The term “contemporary band” holds a great power. I think the most SHINee-like part is always presenting something new and challenging.
Taemin: Strong individual members coming together like a rainbow but creating harmony. That’s SHINee.
Q: You are holding a fan meeting to celebrate your 15th debut anniversary. What aspect are you most looking forward to?
Onew: Since it’s been a while since we met as SHINee with our fans, I’m most curious and excited about what kind of conversations we will have.
Key: It’s the moment when SHINee and SHINee World gather in one place after a long time! Even just imagining it makes me really excited. I’m really looking forward to that day.
Minho: I’m really looking forward to creating new memories with SHINee World. Since it’s been a while since we’ve been together, I’m also looking forward to the fans’ support. I heard there will be a Q&A corner with the fans, and I’m curious about what they want to know. (laughs)
Taemin: I’m excited about meeting the fans themselves, and I want to show them the stages that I couldn’t perform in the past few years to the fullest.
Q: If you were to give a spoiler about the new album that will be released this year in one word or sentence, what would it be?
Onew: New chapter.
Key: Get ready, it’s intense!
Minho: Strong and solid SHINee.
Taemin: New SHINee.
Q: What are SHINee’s dreams and goals for the future?
Onew: To continue together, with the members and SHINee World.
Key: SHINee will not settle for the present and will continue to move forward.
Minho: I want to achieve more with the members and SHINee World in the future. I think SHINee is just starting. I want to create more stories together and make even better stages.
Taemin: It’s to always stay healthy and repay the fans with gratitude. That’s my goal.
Q: Please say a word to SHINee World, who has been with you unchanged for 15 years.
Onew: Thank you for always being with us. I hope we can continue to create happy and beautiful memories together. I love you.
Key: I don’t know what words to use to express my gratitude. Thank you for believing in us, and I believe in you too, and I will work harder. Thank you so much. Time always passes quickly and sometimes slowly, but I want to be together whether it’s a good day or a bad day.
Minho: Thank you so much, as any words would be insufficient. We will definitely repay the gratitude. Once again, thank you so much, and I love you.
Taemin: To SHINee World, who made us special existences, thank you very much.
