Stray Kids’ new album has surpassed 4.93 million pre-order sales, making a new record in the K-pop industry.
As of the 30th, Stray Kids’ third full-length album ‘★★★★★ (5-STAR)’ (Five Star) achieved a pre-order quantity of 4.93 million copies. This is the highest pre-order sales in the history of K-pop, and Stray Kids had already hinted at their success even before their comeback.
Previously, Stray Kids achieved the title of “Million Selling Artist” with their second full-length album ‘NOEASY’ released in August 2021, recording a total sales volume of approximately 1.675 million copies (as of May 20th, based on Circle Chart). This achievement came three years after their debut.
Following that, their mini album ‘ODDINARY’ released in March 2022 sold approximately 1.856 million copies, achieving consecutive million-seller status. Then, their album ‘MAXIDENT’ released in October of the same year sold approximately 3.4217 million copies, making them a “Triple Million Selling Artist.”
Furthermore, the new album is expected to continue the global popularity momentum of Stray Kids. They have already proven their popularity with achievements such as two consecutive No. 1 on the Billboard 200 main chart, the second stadium concert by a K-pop boy group in North America, and their music video for the title track reaching 400 million views, which is a first for a 4th generation K-pop boy group.
‘★★★★★ (5-STAR)’ is highly anticipated as a work that will solidify Stray Kids’ presence as a “global trend.” It includes the title track ‘특’ (Special), as well as a total of 12 tracks such as ‘위인전’ (Epic), ‘ITEM,’ ‘Super Bowl,’ ‘TOPLINE (Feat. Tiger JK),’ ‘DLC,’ ‘죽어보자’ (Let’s Die), ‘충돌’ (Collision), ‘FNF,’ ‘Youtiful,’ ‘THE SOUND (Korean Ver.)’, and ‘Time Out,’ all composed and written by the group’s producing team, 3RACHA (Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han).
Meanwhile, Stray Kids’ third full-length album ‘★★★★★ (5-STAR)’ and the title track ‘특’ will be officially released on June 2nd at 1:00 PM (Eastern Standard Time) or midnight according to the local time in the United States.
