SHINee member Onew will take a temporary break due to his health condition.
Their agency, SM Entertainment, released an official statement saying, “We would like to address the health status of member Onew and his future activities with SHINee.” They further stated, “Due to Onew’s ongoing health issues, he has undergone consultations and examinations, and medical professionals have recommended stability and treatment.”
They continued, “After careful discussions with Onew and the other members, it has been decided that Onew will not participate in the upcoming concert and album activities and will take a temporary rest.” They announced that Onew will temporarily suspend his activities.
The agency added, “The scheduled SHINee concerts and album activities will proceed with Key, Minho, and Taemin, and the resumption of Onew’s activities will be announced based on his recovery status at a later date.”
They appealed, “Although this period of SHINee’s activities is highly anticipated by the members, fans, and our company, this decision has been made to ensure that SHINee can promote in a healthier manner. We kindly ask for your understanding, fans.”
They further stated, “Furthermore, as our company prioritizes the health of our artists, we will support Onew’s focus on recovery and make efforts to allow him to return to activities in a healthy condition.”
Meanwhile, SHINee will release their 8th full-length album ‘HARD’ on the 26th. Additionally, SHINee will hold their sixth solo concert ‘SHINee WORLD VI [PERFECT ILLUMINATION]’ at Seoul Olympic Park KSPO DOME for three days from the 23rd to the 25th before the release of the album.
