XG’s Cocona Comes Out on Her 20th Birthday: ‘Transmasculine Non-Binary, Underwent Chest Surgery’

Cocona comes out

Group XG member COCONA marked her 20th birthday with a meaningful revelation.

On the 6th, Cocona announced through XG’s official social media that she identifies as ‘AFAB Transmasculine non-binary.’

This term refers to individuals assigned female at birth who do not identify solely as female, but instead align more closely with masculinity or form an identity within that spectrum.

“At the significant turning point of 20 years old, I wanted to share some of the thoughts I’ve kept deep in my heart,” Cocona explained her reason for coming out. “I am an AFAB transmasculine non-binary individual. I underwent chest surgery this year,” she revealed, adding, “The hardest thing in my life was accepting and recognizing myself. Now, having embraced myself even a little and taking even a 0.1-step forward, I’ve been able to open new doors.”

In the accompanying photo, Cocona poses with flowers, wearing only a black jacket over her bare body. The scars from her chest surgery are visible between her open jacket.

Cocona concluded by expressing hope: “I wish this message could be a small light for someone. I hope my love reaches everyone who needs it.” She conveyed gratitude to her members, chief producer JAKOPS (SIMON JUNHO PARK), and her parents for joining her on the journey of self-acceptance and growth.

XG’s chief producer and agency CEO JAKOPS expressed respect and admiration on his personal social media for Cocona’s courage, stating, “On this day when Cocona bravely shared her heart with the world, I am filled with genuine emotion and profound respect.” He pledged continued support for artists as individuals, emphasizing respect for their humanity.

He also shared his pride in XG’s music and visuals, but stressed the importance of conveying the members’ pure and essential hearts, describing it as the “core” of XG and XGALX.

The release included a commemorative photo taken on Adult’s Day, celebrating all members reaching adulthood, marking a significant milestone for XG.

Cocona’s revelation reinforces XG’s core identity of ‘courage, love, and hope,’ setting the stage for more boundary-breaking messages and performances.
