With fans eagerly awaiting the group’s full-member activities next year, the impact of BTS leader RM’s comments continues to ripple through the fandom.
On December 6, RM hosted a live broadcast via the communication platform Weverse. This followed dating rumors involving member Jungkook and aespa’s Winter that surfaced on December 5, garnering significant attention to RM’s interactions.
RM, seemingly aware of Jungkook’s dating rumors, stated, “I have ARMY members around me. Some inform me when things happen, and others send things to me. I am not the person to explain if something happens, as I have many shortcomings. However, it’s nice to say what I can, when possible.”
He further explained, “As you know, this job means I can’t reveal all the behind-the-scenes details when something happens or is about to be released. I cannot represent our team anymore because I’m just one person.” He admitted, “While leading BTS from 2017 to 2018 was my role, since then, each member is an individual with their own boundaries and lifestyle, so it’s no longer feasible for me to speak or mediate on behalf of everyone.”
RM also addressed why they can’t make a quick comeback, even when all members are discharged. “Many wonder why we’ve wasted 2025 or done nothing, but we didn’t want to waste it,” he said. “I wanted to do many activities after discharge, but there are things I can’t discuss, and there are reasons we decided not to promote in the second half, which I’m not at liberty to disclose.”
He continued, “We’ve inevitably changed, and so have you. It’s difficult to discuss it too freely, but we must move forward.” RM confessed that he pondered “whether it would be better to disband.” He stressed that the team’s continuation is due to mutual love among the members and respect for the fans.
BTS is preparing for a full-member comeback in spring 2026. Despite RM’s efforts to communicate closely with fans through live broadcasts, his remarks and the mention of “disbandment” have raised concerns among fans.
Adding to the turmoil, neither Jungkook nor Winter’s agencies have commented on the dating rumors, which further fueled speculation. Jimin has also faced persistent dating rumors with Song Da-eun, and recent leaks of personal videos led Big Hit Music to previously acknowledge past relationships.
Fans, known as ARMY, are solely focused on eagerly awaiting the complete members’ comeback, but the repeated dating rumors and RM’s remarks have intensified their discontent.
