COCONA, a member of the group XG, made a meaningful confession on the occasion of their 20th birthday.
On December 6, through XG’s official social media, COCONA revealed, “I am AFAB Transmasculine Non-Binary.” AFAB refers to someone assigned female at birth but who does not strictly identify as female and instead leans towards male characteristics or identifies within that spectrum.
In the post, COCONA explained the reason behind this revelation, stating, “As I reach this significant milestone of turning 20, I wanted to share some thoughts I’ve kept deep in my heart.” They further revealed, “I am AFAB Transmasculine Non-Binary. I underwent chest surgery this year.” COCONA elaborated, “The most challenging aspect of my life was accepting and acknowledging myself. Now, having moved forward even if just 0.1 step, I have been able to open new doors.”
In the accompanying photo, COCONA poses holding a flower, wearing only a black jacket, revealing chest surgery scars.
COCONA concluded with a heartfelt message, “I hope this message becomes a small light for someone. I hope it reaches everyone who needs my love.” They expressed gratitude to the members, general producer JAKOPS (SIMON JUNHO PARK), and their parents for supporting their journey of growth.
JAKOPS, XG’s general producer and CEO, shared support on his personal SNS, “On the day COCONA courageously shared their heart with the world, I was filled with genuine emotion and deep respect. I will continue to offer sincere support, ensuring that each person is respected not only as an ‘active artist’ but as a human being capable of loving their life.”
He added, “While XG’s dazzling music and visuals are indeed impressive, what I truly want to convey to the world is the members’ pure and essential hearts. Their true energy and love, as well as their growth as humans, are the ‘CORE’ of our XG and XGALX.” He also shared a commemorative photo taken with the members on this significant day.
COCONA’s revelation has reinforced XG’s core identity of ‘courage, love, and hope,’ promising future performances that transcend boundaries.
