Actor Ji Sung returns to MBC after 10 years with the drama ‘The Judge Returns’.

A production presentation for MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama ‘The Judge Returns’ was held on the 2nd at the Golden Mouse Hall in Sangam, Seoul. In attendance were Ji Sung, Park Hee-soon, Won Jin-ah, Tae Won-seok, Baek Jin-hee, Oh Se-young, Hwang Hee, and director Lee Jae-jin.

‘The Judge Returns’ tells the story of judge Lee Han Young, who, after living as a pawn for a giant law firm, travels ten years into the past to pursue justice with a renewed purpose.

Ji Sung, starring as Lee Han Young, marks his return to MBC with this drama, his first since ‘Kill Me, Heal Me’ in 2015. With the accomplished actor Ji Sung leading the cast, ‘The Judge Returns’ is poised to compete against the highly popular SBS drama ‘Taxi Driver 3’.

Reflecting on his return to MBC, Ji Sung remarked, “‘Kill Me, Heal Me’ comes to mind. MBC has a distinct style, and I have vivid memories of the energetic filming atmosphere back then. I am determined to create another impactful work this time as well.”

In the drama, Lee Han Young (played by Ji Sung) experiences an unexpected incident, traveling back in time from 2035 to 2025, marking a pivotal moment in his life. Ji Sung explained that his character confronts the darkness of his former life and embarks on a journey to establish a new sense of justice.

Moreover, how the villains, led by Kang Shin-jin (played by Park Hee-soon), will hinder Lee Han Young’s pursuit of justice is another focal point.

Park Hee-soon described Kang Shin-jin as a character who grew up facing adversity and entered the judiciary with a desire to create a just society. However, he ultimately resorts to any means necessary to uphold his twisted version of justice. Park Hee-soon further elaborated, “I’ve deeply contemplated the meaning of justice. I researched and extensively pondered Kang Shin-jin’s interpretation of it.”

Will Lee Han Young, having traveled back ten years, be able to redeem himself from his past as a corrupt judge with the support of his colleagues and ultimately deliver justice? MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama ‘The Judge Returns’ premieres today (the 2nd) at 9:40 PM.
