HYBE and its label Belift Lab are pursuing legal action against overseas malicious commenters who have spread false information about their groups, Enhypen and ILLIT.

According to industry sources on January 8, HYBE and Belift Lab have secured information from a U.S. court regarding an anonymous account that posted approximately 3,000 negative comments since opening an X (formerly Twitter) account last March.

The account reportedly spread baseless rumors, including claims like ‘forcing artists to attend specific political events’ and ‘HYBE engaged in inappropriate relations with judges to influence rulings,’ along with numerous defamatory statements targeting artists and their associates.

HYBE had previously filed a civil lawsuit through a Korean court last August but faced challenges in proceeding due to difficulties identifying the defendant. Subsequently, the company initiated a discovery process in a California court, where X is headquartered.

Through this process, HYBE was able to compel X to disclose case-related information, revealing that the malicious commenter’s IP address was traced to Argentina.

HYBE has completed an application for the preservation of evidence in an Argentine court and has also filed a precautionary application for preliminary evidence as a backup. Based on this information, HYBE and Belift Lab plan to pursue both civil and criminal actions locally.
