Seohyun of Girls’ Generation Transforms into a Violinist: ‘Classical Music Belongs to Everyone’

Seohyun

Seohyun, a member of Girls’ Generation and an actress, is set to surprise fans by transforming into a violinist.

According to KKUM ENT, on March 13 at 8 PM, Seohyun will perform as a special collaborator at the “Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra’s 8th Regular Concert” held at Lotte Concert Hall in Songpa-gu, Seoul.

During this performance, Seohyun will charm the audience with Vittorio Monti’s classic piece ‘Csárdás’, known for its intense rhythm and poignant melody.

What makes this event even more special is that Seohyun has been learning the violin as a hobby for only about five months. She aims to showcase the pure passion of someone who genuinely enjoys music rather than the perfection of a professional performer.

Seohyun’s participation aligns with the philosophy of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, which consists of classical music enthusiasts instead of professional musicians. She decided to collaborate to lower the barriers of classical music, making the genre more accessible to the public.

Seohyun expressed, “I hope my challenge helps people feel closer to classical music and discover new joys. I want to show that classical music, like pop music, can be ‘music for everyone’.”

Though she started playing the violin as a hobby, Seohyun has been diligently practicing with the orchestra for this performance. Her violin melodies will reveal the new charm of classical music to pop fans and offer fresh and pure energy to classical music enthusiasts.

An official from the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra stated, “We expect Seohyun’s participation to lower the entry barriers to classical performances. It will be a very special stage filled with a pure love for music.”

Meanwhile, under the baton of conductor Jo Sang-wook, the concert, also featuring violinist Ju-Young Baek, will present a diverse program including Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5, Marquez’s Danzón No. 2, and Spring from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Tickets can be purchased through Lotte Concert Hall and NOL ticket.
