A new romance drama, ‘The Efficient Meeting of Single Men and Women,’ is set to premiere, aiming to resonate with viewers through its relatable portrayal of reality.

A press conference for JTBC’s new weekend drama, ‘The Efficient Meeting of Single Men and Women,’ was held on the 26th at The Link Seoul Hotel in Seoul’s Guro district. Director Lee Jae-hoon, along with actors Han Ji-min, Park Sung-hoon, and Lee Gi-taek, attended the event.

The series follows a woman who, after deciding to find love, goes on blind dates and meets two men with distinct charms, eventually discovering the true meaning of love.

Based on a Naver Webtoon of the same name, the drama is a collaboration between director Lee Jae-hoon, known for his critically acclaimed direction in ‘Run On’ and ‘Sacred Divorce,’ and writer Lee Jin.

Director Lee Jae-hoon described the drama as having a central theme of blind dating. He noted that unlike other shows with grand storylines, moments like first dates can also be dramatic and relatable for viewers, which prompted his decision to select the script.

Expressing confidence, he stated they are ready to present a drama that is both familiar and refreshingly new.

He also explained the reasons behind casting Han Ji-min, Park Sung-hoon, and Lee Gi-taek.

Director Lee mentioned that casting is always challenging, emphasizing the importance of how well actors fit their roles and their acting skills. He added that the filming process with the three actors was enjoyable and highlighted the valuable relationships formed on set.

Han Ji-min portrays Lee Eui-young, a competent and trusted colleague at work who is stagnant in her love life.

Explaining her choice of the project, she stated that although she had previously worked on the romance drama ‘My Perfect Secretary,’ this script seemed to reflect real-life dilemmas through Eui-young’s inner monologues.

Park Sung-hoon takes on the role of Song Tae-seop, the head of a woodworking studio, characterized by a gentle exterior and a resilient interior.

He previously sparked controversy in 2024 after posting an AV-themed ‘Squid Game’ cover on his social media. ‘The Efficient Meeting of Single Men and Women’ marks his return following the scandal.

Commenting on his return, he stated, “I feel very nervous standing in front of reporters again,” adding that he now approaches projects and life with greater caution.

Regarding his decision to join the project, he cited Han Ji-min’s involvement as a key motivator, noting he has long been a fan of hers. He expressed belief that the drama’s relatable nature would resonate well with viewers, offering a different appeal compared to his previous intense roles.

Lee Gi-taek portrays Shin Ji-soo, an actor and professional part-timer, describing the character as “a romantic free spirit.”

Unlike Han Ji-min and Park Sung-hoon, Lee Gi-taek expressed joy at being chosen by the director, recalling his excitement upon receiving the news.
