K-pop sensation BTS has once again been nominated for ‘Artist of the Year’ at the American Music Awards (AMAs), one of the three major music awards in the U.S.

According to the nominee list released by the AMAs on the 14th, BTS earned a nod in the ‘Artist of the Year’ category. The group made history in 2021 by becoming the first Korean act to win the prestigious award. This latest nomination fuels anticipation for their second victory in the category. BTS will contend with prominent pop stars including Bad Bunny, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, and Lady Gaga.

Beyond ‘Artist of the Year,’ BTS received nominations in two other categories: ‘Best Male K-Pop Artist’ and ‘Song of the Summer,’ bringing their total nominations to three. In the ‘Song of the Summer’ category, Harry Styles’ ‘American Girls’ and Taylor Swift’s ‘Elizabeth Taylor’ were also nominated. The song ‘SWIM’ is particularly noteworthy, having secured a nomination less than a month after its release.

The American Music Awards are scheduled for May 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and will be broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+.

In related news, BTS simultaneously topped the Billboard main album chart, ‘Billboard 200,’ and the main song chart, ‘Hot 100,’ with ‘ARIRANG’ and the title track ‘SWIM’ on April 4. The group became the first Korean artist to hold the No. 1 spot on the ‘Billboard 200’ for three consecutive weeks. Additionally, ‘SWIM’ has maintained a ‘Top 5’ position on the ‘Hot 100’ for three weeks.
