Nana Confronts ‘Home Intrusion’ Robber in Court, Fumes Over Ongoing Trial After Covering Hospital Costs

Nana

Singer Nana expressed her frustration after appearing as a witness in court for a home invasion robbery case.

On the afternoon of the 21st, the Uijeongbu District Court, Namyangju Branch’s Criminal Division 1 held a trial for a man in his 30s, identified as Mr. A, who was indicted for robbery and assault. Initially, the trial was scheduled to be private, but it was made public at Nana’s request.

Nana appeared at court around 1:30 PM, 30 minutes before the trial, dressed casually and wearing a hat and mask. She stated she had taken herbal medicine to calm her nerves, admitting, “I’m so nervous. I tried to come after controlling my emotions.”

Regarding the defendant’s denial of charges, she expressed disbelief, stating, “It’s ironic that I’m here,” and “I hope an honest account will lead to a proper verdict.”

Contrary to her pre-trial remarks about controlling emotions, Nana confronted Mr. A as soon as she saw him, saying, “Is it fun? Look me straight in the eyes.” The court asked her to calm down.

Nana then regained her composure and participated in the questioning. She detailed the situation during the incident, explaining that she defended herself instinctively because Mr. A had a knife. She recounted how Mr. A bled from his own actions and apologized when Nana and her mother apprehended him.

The disputed topic was the origin of the weapon. Both Nana and her mother stated they had never seen the knife used in the crime or knew the brand, and both testified that Mr. A was holding a knife without a sheath.

Nana shared, “Mr. A seemed young and kind-hearted. I was tempted to forgive him and asked for his name, age, and occupation out of curiosity about his actions.”

Previously, Mr. A claimed in a letter from prison that he broke into Nana’s house for money to pay his mother’s hospital bills and confessed after Nana and her mother subdued him. He alleged Nana offered him 40 million won if he would state he carried a weapon.

In response, Nana stated, “He mentioned needing money for his mother’s hospital expenses and surgery but I didn’t discuss any specific amount,” denying any conversation about money.

During questioning, she also chided Mr. A, “You should study to do good things,” asking why he was studying in court.

Nana concluded her witness testimony by expressing, “I thought I was fine after this incident, but it left a trauma in my life. I hope this case is resolved quickly.”

She added, “My house is no longer a safe place. I am always on edge inside my home, carrying pepper spray when I open the front door or fetch a package.”

Continuing, she said, “I thought I gave Mr. A a fair chance and made the right decision, but why is this trial prolonged with humiliation? It feels like endless victimization.”

Nana also conveyed sympathy toward Mr. A, “I entered the courtroom angry, but after going through the details, I felt pity. I hope his sentence isn’t extended, and I wish he’d stop here and reflect.”

Nana’s mother also denied mentioning the 40 million won in her testimony. She ensured Mr. A received hospital treatment, offering payment and showing concern for his well-being.

In her final statement, she expressed shock at facing something seen only in movies, “As a mother with a daughter, it was the best choice. I hope Mr. A becomes a good person after serving his time.”

Meanwhile, Mr. A is accused of breaking into Nana’s home in Guri-si, Achendong, Gyeonggi Province, with a weapon on November 15th of last year, threatening and injuring Nana and her mother.

After a struggle, Nana and her mother subdued Mr. A. He countersued Nana for attempted murder, but police ruled it self-defense and opted not to forward charges. Nana filed a false accusation charge against him.

Mr. A’s next trial is scheduled for May 12, with the verdict due on June 4.
