FIFTY FIFTY has once again made a record in the K-pop girl group history by ranking 19th on the Billboard chart ‘Hot 100’.
According to Billboard on the 9th, Fifty Fifty’s title track “Cupid” from their first single “The Beginning: Cupid,” released on February 24, reached the 19th spot on the ‘Hot 100’ chart as of the 13th.
“Cupid” made a rapid ascent of 22 steps from 41st to 19th on the chart within a week, once again proving their nickname as the “Record-Breaking Girls.”
FIFTY FIFTY’s achievement of ranking 19th on the Billboard ‘Hot 100’ is the highest record set by a K-pop girl group with a standalone song. Previously, BLACKPINK reached 13th place with their collaboration with Selena Gomez on “Ice Cream,” but this record holds even greater significance as it was achieved by a single group without a collaboration with a pop star.
Moreover, FIFTY FIFTY, which entered the ‘Hot 100’ chart six weeks ago at 100th place, has consistently captured the hearts of listeners, ranking at 94th, 85th, 60th, 50th, 41st, and now 19th.
If FIFTY FIFTY continues to chart for eight consecutive weeks next week, it could rewrite the history of K-pop girl groups entirely. The destination of FIFTY FIFTY’s syndrome and where it will lead is being closely watched.
