The movie ‘The Running Man’ is set to release soon and has revealed exciting elements to anticipate.
‘The Running Man’ is a chase action blockbuster that follows the story of Ben Richards (played by Glen Powell), an unemployed family man who must survive a brutal 30-day global survival program against relentless pursuers for a huge cash prize.
The first highlight is Glen Powell’s explosive action performance.
Glen Powell, who performed most of the action sequences himself, drew attention for receiving direct action know-how from Tom Cruise, with whom he has maintained ties since ‘Top Gun: Maverick’. Known for spending over two hours on the phone with Cruise, he was advised that “Stunts are not mere acting but come with real pain, requiring rigorous physical training and respecting stunts as an art,” which added vibrancy to the film with his fearless stunt performance.

Director Bong Joon-ho praised the film’s action scenes, stating, “The action is more about the gritty, working-class feel rather than showcasing stunt skills. The anger-filled Ben Richards fits well with the vibe Glen Powell brings,” raising expectations with his realistic portrayal.
The second key point is the world setting that transcends the current era.
In ‘The Running Man’, manipulated videos are used to create distorted public perceptions of participants, with the powerful corporation ‘Network’ monitoring individuals’ privacy through widespread home TVs called ‘FreeV’.
This reflects the original setting from Stephen King’s novel written over 40 years ago.
Director Edgar Wright modernized the original’s era insights to depict a dystopia highlighting social inequality.

With detailed production design, dynamic filming, and immersive music, ‘The Running Man’ resonates with today’s reality, leaving a lasting impression on viewers.
The third point is the dazzling synergy of a cast full of strong personalities.
William H. Macy plays Molly, aiding Ben Richards while torn between friendship and reality, adding depth to the film. Lee Pace, known for his roles in ‘The Fall’ and ‘The Hobbit’ series, shines as the leader of the hunters, McCon, pursuing Ben Richards, boasting a unique aura.
Recently voicing the ‘Cowardly Lion’ in ‘Wicked: For Good’, actor Colman Domingo takes on the role of Bobby T, the face of ‘The Running Man’ program, showcasing a distinct charm. Josh Brolin, famed for his villainous portrayal of Thanos in the ‘Avengers’ series, adds a strong presence as Dan Killian, the head of ‘The Running Man’ program.
‘The Running Man’, featuring a cast of versatile actors, promises enhanced excitement and tension.
‘The Running Man’ premieres on the 10th.
