Actor Hyun Woo-seok expressed his fascination with the horror and occult genres.
An interview with Hyun Woo-seok, star of the Netflix series ‘Girigo,’ took place on the afternoon of the 28th in Sogyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
The Netflix series follows high school students who are forewarned of sudden deaths due to the curse of an application called ‘Girigo’ and strive to avoid it. Hyun Woo-seok plays Ha-joon, known among his friends as a genius.
Hyun Woo-seok shared, “I’m inclined to believe in ghosts. While I’ve never directly witnessed one, I sometimes think I’d like to see one.” He added, “I enjoy watching scary things and riding thrilling rides,” illustrating his interest in the genre.

He remarked, “While reading the script for ‘Girigo,’ scenes involving blood or unfortunate events were very vivid in my imagination. The script’s strong pull made me wonder what kind of energy it would bring to the set. The ability to visualize the scenes was one of its key attractions.”
He added, “I found the story, which progresses through an app, very refreshing. The characters felt incredibly alive, and that attracted me.”
As ‘Girigo’ falls into the horror and occult genre, it naturally led to questions about whether any strange occurrences happened during filming.
He recalled, “Actress Jeon So-young mentioned having many dreams. I found those stories fascinating.” He then added, “When filming in a mountain bamboo forest, the darkness and serenity felt refreshing to me.”
