Actress Park Shin-hye has revealed why she chose ‘Undercover Miss Hong’.
TvN’s new weekend drama ‘Undercover Miss Hong,’ premiering on January 17, is a retro office comedy set in the late 1990s. The series follows Hong Geum-bo, an elite securities supervisor in her 30s portrayed by Park Shin-hye, who goes undercover as a 20-year-old rookie to expose suspicious fund movements at a securities firm.
With Park Shin-hye, a known box-office success, teaming up with tvN, ‘Undercover Miss Hong’ is already attracting attention. The drama also boasts a strong cast including Go Kyung-pyo, Ha Yoon-kyung, and Jo Han-gyeol, promising perfect synergy. Director Park Seon-ho, known for hits like ‘Wok of Love,’ ‘Business Proposal,’ and ‘Suspicious Partner,’ is poised to bring a unique twist to the office comedy genre.
Park Shin-hye shared, “I was drawn to this drama because it’s a period piece I had never attempted before. The story of Hong Geum-bo, who excels as an ace at the Securities Supervisory Board and then goes undercover as an entry-level employee during a time when women’s social success was challenging, felt incredibly intriguing and charming,” explaining her decision to join the series.
She added, “Geum-bo is honest and persistent. She’s a tough survivor in fierce competition and doesn’t succumb to a patriarchal society, instead showcasing her abilities boldly. This is her most attractive quality,” passionately introducing her character.
Park highlighted ‘relationships between characters’ as another key aspect. She emphasized, “The chemistry among the members of the Securities Supervisory Board and Hanmin Securities’ Crisis Management Headquarters, especially the four roommates in dorm 301, will be an unmissable delight.” She concluded by urging prospective audiences to anticipate the success of Geum-bo’s undercover mission and the future of Hanmin Securities.
