
Singer BoA is parting ways with SM Entertainment, where she has been since her debut.
SM Entertainment (SM) announced on the 12th in an official statement that, following extensive discussions with BoA, they mutually agreed to conclude their 25-year journey together on December 31st, marking the end of her exclusive contract.
SM stated, “BoA, who debuted in 2000 at the age of 13, has been an ‘icon of overseas expansion’ and ‘star of Asia,’ pioneering the Hallyu wave across Asia for 25 years,” and highlighted her remarkable record, adding, “It has been a profound honor to accompany her luminous journey.”
The company continued, “Although her exclusive contract with us has ended, we support her new activities and challenges, and hope she further shines as the ‘star of Asia’ while fully demonstrating her capabilities,” and appealed for continued love and interest in BoA’s future endeavors.
BoA debuted at the age of 14 in 2000 and found success not only in Korea but also in Japan, earning the title “star of Asia.”
Having left a significant mark on K-pop history, BoA recently participated as a producer for SM’s new boy group NCT WISH. Her exclusive contract with SM ended on December 31.

After extensive discussions with BoA, we have agreed to conclude our 25-year journey together as of December 31st.
