Arden Cho, star of ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters,’ spoke about her collaboration with Cha Eun-woo.
On January 12 (local time), ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ hosted Arden Cho and Ahn Hyo-seop, the animated feature’s stars, as guests.
Jimmy Fallon asked them about the most amazing thing that happened after their work’s release.
Cho recounted, “A few months after the release, I received a call from Linda Larkin, who voiced Princess Jasmine in the movie ‘Aladdin.’ It was such an unbelievable moment that I put her on speakerphone, and we talked for two hours. She told me she was impressed by my voice acting. Ultimately, we both cried. It was a day I can never forget. Princess Jasmine called me!” she exclaimed joyfully.
She added that Larkin told her, “You will become a princess of this era.”
Ahn Hyo-seop addressed the cover video for “Free,” the duet song sung by Rumi and Jin in the animated feature. He said, “At that time, I was working on another project in Korea, while a major promotion was happening in the U.S. I wanted to be a part of it and give back to the fans.”
He added with a laugh, “It was a fun project, but deep down inside, I thought, ‘I would love to sing in the movie.'”
Cho shared a similar experience, stating, “I have many friends in the K-pop scene, and after the movie was released, Cha Eun-woo called me, expressing his enjoyment and desire to cover ‘Free.’ It was probably the last cover he did before joining the military. His cover garnered around 70 to 80 million views, and fans might also be anticipating our collaborative cover.”
Meanwhile, ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ won two awards, including Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song (“Golden”), at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards on January 11 (local time).
