Prosecutors have sought a 1 year and 6 months prison sentence for Song Min-ho of the group WINNER, who has been brought to trial on charges of violating the Military Service Act.

The first trial took place on the morning of the 21st at the Seoul Western District Court, led by Judge Sung Joon-kyu. Song and his superior, Lee, who is responsible for managing service duties, were both charged with violating the Military Service Act.

Prosecutors sought a 1 year and 6 months prison sentence for Song, who admitted to all charges.

He is accused of negligence during his service as a public service worker at a facility in Mapo-gu, from March 2023 to December 2024, including allegations of failing to report for duty properly.

Lee, who was also indicted, faces charges for neglecting to supervise Song properly, despite being aware of his negligence.

Previously, the Mapo Police Station, at the behest of the Military Manpower Administration, referred them to the prosecutors in May last year. The Seoul Western District Prosecutors’ Office, upon receiving the case, uncovered additional unauthorized absences through cellphone forensics and GPS verification.

According to the indictment submitted by prosecutors, Song was absent without permission for 102 of his 430 official working days as a public service worker.
