Actor Jang Keun-suk revealed he is contemplating establishing a foundation after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
The April 17 episode of tvN’s ‘Gugidong Friends’ featured Jang Do-yeon, Lee Da-hee, Choi Daniel, Jang Keun-suk, Ahn Jae-hyun, and Kyung Su-jin spending their second day at the Gugidong House.
Excluding Lee Da-hee, the cast members visited a fortune teller who inspired the movie ‘Exhuma’ to have their fortunes told.
Jang Do-yeon was the first to have her fortune told. The fortune teller told her, “How can you do that job? You’re the type to internalize everything and then let it out,” adding that her grandmother greatly admired her.
The fortune teller added that “there is someone closer than your parents who gives you courage and strength,” which moved Jang Do-yeon. However, when she was told “there is no fortune with men,” she and the others burst out laughing.
The fortune teller then apologized, stating, “Honestly, you are unlearned. If your environment had been supportive, you would have succeeded earlier, but now is your time for repayment.” This brought some comfort to Jang Do-yeon.
Next, it was Jang Keun-suk’s turn.
The fortune teller advised Jang Keun-suk, “Don’t be reckless, and you need to restrain yourself.” She added, “Your wealth will increase even if you do nothing. If too much comes in, it may be hard to handle.” The teller continued, “You will need to support many children,” to which Jang Keun-suk listened intently.
Later, Jang Keun-suk shared, “There is one thing I definitely want to do before I die.” He added, “I keep thinking about establishing a foundation. I don’t know if I can actually do it.” The fortune teller expressed confidence, saying, “You can do it 100%.”
In an interview, Jang Keun-suk revealed that his thyroid cancer surgery two years ago inspired his dream of starting a foundation. He candidly expressed, “I lived diligently, but wondered why such hardship came to me, feeling unjustly treated and lonely.”
He continued, “At that time, I strongly desired to create a charitable foundation to use my earnings for something meaningful.” He added, “I was greatly relieved to hear that I am capable of achieving it.”
He concluded, “That’s why I mustn’t stop and must live more diligently,” expressing, “Living that way, once you’re born, seems truly admirable.”
